  Sand Soccer Rules  
  • All Teams must have a captain, and it’s the captain’s responsibility to make sure all match fees are paid every week.
  • The match consists of 2 x 15 minutes with a rest period of 2 minutes at half time.
  • Teams MUST HAVE a minimum of 7 players to a team, with 5 on court including the keeper.
  • ALL PLAYERS must wear socks. Ankle socks are recommended.
  • Goals:
    A goal cannot be scored directly from a kick-off.
    A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the imaginary goal line between the goalposts and under the crossbar, unless it has been thrown, carried or intentionally propelled by the hand or arm of the attacking side, including the goalkeeper.
    A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick, but only against the opposing team. The opponents remain at least 5m away from the ball until it is in play.
    After a goal is scored the ball is returned to the centre spot to restart play.

    Goalkeepers:
    May not score a goal directly from throwing the ball with his hand: if this occurs, a goal clearance is awarded to the opposing team.
    May not score a goal directly after releasing the ball with hands and kicking into the air before it touches the ground.
    May not score a goal directly by placing the ball on the ground and then kicking it.
    May be substituted at any time, providing the referee is informed before the substitution takes place.
    Must wear a goalkeeper’s shirt at all times that distinguishes him from the other players and the referee.
    May not play the ball from his hands to his feet outside his own penalty area, if this occurs, a free kick will be awarded to the opposing team at the imaginary point on the halfway line.
    NOTE: The penalty area for the goalkeeper will be marked accordingly on the side of the court.

    Free Kicks:
    A Direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if one of the following offences occur:
    Kicks or attempts to kick an opponent.
    Tackles or attempts to tackle an opponent, either by sliding or by bending down in front or behind him.
    Jumps/chargers/pushes at an opponent.
    Spits at an opponent.
    Handles the ball (i.e. deliberately carries it with a hand or arm)
    Prevents the goalkeeper from releasing the ball from his hands
  • When a direct free kick is awarded, the players may not form a wall. All players, apart from the one taking the kick must be at least 5m away from the ball until it is in play.
  • Throw Ins: Taken from the side lines can be taken with either hands or foot. The defending team must be at least 5m away from where the throw in is being taken.
  • Penalty Kicks: A penalty kick is awarded if a player commits any of the above offences inside his own penalty area.
  • A YELLOW CARD is a caution card, if a further infringement occurs it will result in a RED CARD which means automatic suspension for the remaining of the game and for the following week.
  • Uniforms: The basic compulsory equipment of a player comprises of a jersey or shirt; shorts – if thermal undershorts are worn, they must be the same main colour as the shorts. Footwear is not permitted. Elastic binding around the ankles or feet and plastic spectacles may be worn for protection. The colours of the numbers must contrasts clearly with the colours of the shirt.
  • Premiership Points: 2 points will be given for a draw, 4 points for a win, 0 points for a loss and for every 5 goals scored per team a bonus 1 point will be awarded.
